Fun at the introduction days

Every year, Tio organizes an orientation camp for the first-year students. A three-day survival trip to the Ardennes. Going back to basics is a great way to get to know your fellow students. Orientation camp is a great and unique way to begin the new study year, with many sporting activities during the day and festivities during the evenings. This year we asked some of our teachers and first-year students how they experience the orientation camp.

Jaimy-Lee Aarts - student of International Business Management in Amsterdam: “I really like this orientation camp because you get to meet a lot of new people and future classmates. There are a lot of fun activities and I especially enjoyed the hexathlon.”

Anick van den Berg - student of International Tourism Management in Rotterdam: “I appreciate that they organize this orientation camp. There are a lot of fun activities and you quickly get to know the other students."

Daan Groutars - student of International Business Management in Amsterdam: “Wonderful orientation camp, you instantly form a connection with the other students.”

Demi Knol - Hotel and Event management: “It is a wonderful orientation camp and it is a lot of fun to be constantly engaged in cool activities. The best part is that the camp takes place before the beginning of the study year, so when your classes start you will already be acquainted with some of your classmates.

Esmee Nieuwkoop - student of Hotel and Event management in Amsterdam: “I really enjoy orientation camp because you get to know everyone. It is a lot of fun, despite the fact that I don’t really enjoy survival activities!”

Nathalie van der Pluim - study coach at Tio Rotterdam: “This is where the foundation for the tightknit bond between students is formed. Students who do not go on this orientation camp will easily fit into the group. Because of this harmony between the students there is a very sociable atmosphere at the locations. This camp helps students to intermingle with students from other courses. Because the students have already got to know each other during orientation camp, they will not limit themselves to interacting with classmates only.”

Robert Passtoors - student of E-commerce Marketing Sales in Amsterdam: “I believe the orientation camp to be really important because it allows you to get to know the new students. It is a fun trip and there are a lot of entertaining activities.”

Reinier Kwijt - student of E-commerce Marketing Sales in Amsterdam: “It is an exciting orientation camp with a lot of spontaneous people and fun activities. If I had to put it in one word, I would say ‘awesome’!”

Antoine van Hulst - student of E-commerce Marketing Sales in Amsterdam: “It is really nice that they organize this orientation camp because it allows you to easily get to know everyone. I do think it is a shame that not all students take part. There are so many fun activities and if you are unable to partake they help you find a suitable alternative.”

Justin Nep - student Hotel and Event management in Amsterdam: “I really enjoy the orientation camp. Because of the many activities, you quickly familiarize yourself with the other students. There is an easy-going atmosphere, partly due to the fun and very active student society.

Saskia Dekker - study coach in Amsterdam: “I think it is really nice that they organize this orientation camp. It provides students with a fun and easy-going environment which allows them to get to know each other in a more natural setting. This will help them to make friends. The contact you want to create at the location is formed during this orientation camp. Everyone is really excited and there are a lot of fun activities planned.”
