Angela from Taiwan moved to the Netherlands to pursue her Master of Business Administration, where she found the perfect fit at Tio Business School.
“I decided I wanted to study in the Netherlands and moved here. After working for one year, I was ready to pursue my master’s degree. Tio is famous for its small classes, so it's really easy to get to know other students and engage in conversation with the lecturers about what you learn. And a very practical reason is that it’s close to where I live! It’s very easy to get to Tio by public transportation.”
Diverse day-to-day life
Angela currently works in an operational sales role, making sure processes run smoothly. She enjoys working and communicating with people from different cultures and backgrounds. In her MBA class, Angela also finds a diverse and multicultural environment, as students from all over the world find their way to Tio Amsterdam. “Almost all of us come from different countries. I'm from Taiwan, and I study alongside students from Germany, Brazil, Peru, Belgium, Nigeria, India and Türkiye. It's really diverse!”
A true leader of tomorrow
Her specialisation, Global Leadership & Intercultural Management, is a clear step towards becoming a global leader. A choice she does not regret for a second. “I majored in international business for my bachelor's degree in Taiwan, and I wanted to dive deeper into this area. I really like the finance-focused modules. And Business Intelligence, which Jasper teaches! He's really creative and brings lots of recent examples from real-world companies and teaches us specific practical skills we will use in our future career. That’s really helpful!
This semester for instance, we worked on our final assignment for Business Intelligence, solving a problem for an organisation using our analytics skills. Using current tools like PowerBI or Excel, I can easily translate figures into information and find ways to improve business processes. Yeah, it's helpful for my current job as well, absolutely. And in my future career, I will need these skills daily. For graduation, I want to find a way to improve the working culture at international companies and close the communication gap between different kinds of cultures within a company.”
The road to success starts at Tio Business School
For other international students considering studying in the Netherlands and an MBA at Tio Business School, she encourages choosing the Netherlands and Tio Business School. “Studying in the Netherlands is a great choice, as there are many career opportunities here.
