Tio's tourism students organise interactive trip to Hurghada

Samenwerking Tio Business School, Corendon en Justcurious

A new batch of tourism students from Tio Business School is organising an innovative study trip to Hurghada for travel agents. In collaboration with Corendon and JustCurious, they are developing an innovative concept that differs from the traditional study trip in the travel industry.
This innovative study trip focuses on interaction, experience and gamification. Travel agents take part in various games, challenges and team assignments that allow them to actively get to know the destination.

Interactive programme for travel agents

Within this new concept, the classic study trip takes on a completely different form. Students from Tio Business School are developing the programme and providing an interactive experience for the participating travel agents. Using gamification, game elements are integrated into the programme. Participants work in teams, carry out assignments, collect points and ultimately compete for a prize.

During the trip through Hurghada, the travel agents complete various challenges related to the destination. These include assignments related to culture, history and the famous resorts on the Red Sea. This allows participants to discover the destination not only through presentations, but above all by actively participating themselves. This approach ensures that travel agents gain practical knowledge and experience that they can later use to better advise customers on holidays to Hurghada and Egypt.

Corendon: study trips in the travel industry in need of renewal

According to Çiğdem Akın, Retail Project Manager at Corendon, it is time for a new approach to study trips in the travel industry: "The standard study trips in the travel industry are in need of an update. The students at Tio are tackling this project with enthusiasm and demonstrating how things can be done completely differently. The result is a programme full of new insights that gives travel agents the opportunity to get to know Hurghada on a much deeper level. It is wonderful to see what happens when innovative ideas are given space and theory and practice come together."

Collaboration between education and the tourism sector

The collaboration between Tio Business School, Corendon and JustCurious offers students the opportunity to directly apply theoretical knowledge in the practice of tourism. In doing so, they actively contribute to innovation within the travel industry and develop new concepts for study trips.

This collaboration has already led to a successful project: the “Gran Corendon Experience” on Gran Canaria. With the study trip to Hurghada, the three parties are once again taking a step towards innovative and interactive study trips for travel agents.
