Warm welcome

Before the academic year begins, students are warmly welcomed into the Tio community through our inspiring Introduction days, Kick-off, and Welcome Days - designed to ensure everyone feels at home from day one. The Welcome Days are all about connecting with your fellow students, getting to know your new home - the city where you’ll be studying - and discovering everything you need to navigate Tio’s systems and feel confident during your first weeks.

Admissions process: a smooth, personal, and efficient admissions journey

Once we receive your application along with the required documents (your diploma or predicted grades, transcript, passport, and English certificate), your dedicated admissions concierge will get in touch with you.
You pay the one-time Application Fee of €95. Only after this step will our Admissions Team review your documents.
You’ll be invited for an intake interview, where you can share your ambitions, career goals, and how Tio can support your personal and professional growth.
After the intake, you will receive your admissions decision.
For non-EU/EEA students: You will then receive the invoice for the Package Fee, which covers your student visa, insurance, and accommodation for the first year.
For non-EU/EEA students: Once the Package Fee is paid, we will begin your student visa application.

Admission for NON-EU/EEA students

The following information is meant for students requiring a student visa to study in the Netherlands.

Visa requirements

In order for you to come to the Netherlands and to study at Tio, please check whether you need a student visa and/or a residence permit. Always check with the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service to see if you require an ‘Authorisation for temporary stay’, also known as an entry visa (MVV).

If a MVV and/or residence permit is required, Tio will apply for the MVV and/or residence permit, after the following conditions have been met:

The student has been accepted by Tio.
The student has sent all the required and legalised documents (see below).
The student has paid the package fee to Tio.

Required documents

A copy of your passport (readable text and visible face).
A copy of your residence permit (if applicable).
A copy of your birth certificate, with an apostil or double legalisation.
A copy of the original documentation of your Higher Education qualifications.
A legalised copy of all previous educational qualifications translated into English.
A legalised copy of recent mark/grade lists translated into English.
A colour passport photograph - digitally (according to Dutch rules, taken from the front side of the face).
Proof of English language proficiency:
- Bachelor's programme
  - TOEFL: iBT ≥ 80 points (taken at an official examination centre)
  - IELTS Academic: ≥ 6.0 overall
  - PTE Pearson ≥ 61 points
  - Cambridge exam: ≥ 160 points or a Cambridge First Certificate
- Master's programme
  - TOEFL: iBT ≥ 90 points
  - IELTS Academic: ≥ 6.5 overall
  - PTE Pearson ≥ 64 points
  - Cambridge exam: > 180 points or a Cambridge First Certificate

Application deadlines

If you wish to enrol for our January intake: Apply before 15 October.
If you wish to enrol for our September intake: Apply before 15 June.

Admission

After applying for admission to Tio by sending a signed copy of the application form, Tio will contact you about the admission proceedings.

Package fee

Tio has put together a package fee for students requiring a visa. This amount has to be transferred and received into the Tio bank account before Tio will proceed with the visa application.

In case the application is rejected, your study agreement will be terminated without liability for either party. Tio will refund the package fee within 15 days after termination, with deduction of the costs incurred with the application of the MVV and/or residence permit.
