The Travel Challenge 2024 was a great success: three of our tourism students were among the winners!
From May 28th to June 1st, 64 students from all over the Netherlands participated in the tenth edition of the Travel Challenge. They traveled with more than 30 experts from the travel industry and education sector to the beautiful Monchique in Portugal. Here, they worked in teams on various challenges, TV-show-style games and a business case focused on sustainability.
Travel and networking
On behalf of Tio, students Roma, Jolien, Isabel, Stijn, Elise, Marcus, Remco and Lindy travelled to Portugal together with teacher Marion Ariëns for this unforgettable event. In teams with students from other colleges and universities, they set to work on assignments, explored the beautiful region and worked on their professional network.
Sustainable tourism in Portugal
In the business case, students posed as a Dutch travel company and came up with a long-term strategic plan to rebuild sustainable tourism in the Monchique region after a natural disaster. Tourism student Isabel (Tio Amsterdam), was part of the team that won the Travel Challenge. Congratulations on this great achievement, Isabel!
Travel talent
On top of this, something else very special happened: students International Tourism Management Jolien (Tio Utrecht) and Stijn (Tio Eindhoven) were both named Travel Talent 2024! Never before have two students been awarded this prestigious title: what an achievement that both are Tio Business School students! Jolien and Stijn were both chosen because of their proactive attitude within the team and their qualities as connectors. They will travel to Oman in November for the ANVR Congress 2024, where they will also speak in front of all the travel companies present.
