Gebert Janssen, lecturer Event Management and Event Marketing at Tio, has won the Crystal Award for ‘Best Incentive Trip. The Crystal Award is the world's leading award in event management.
First Dutch winner
It is the first time in the history of this award, founded by the global event organisation for event management, that the prize is awarded to a Dutchman. Janssen: "I organised a five-day trip to South Africa, from basic to luxury. We sponsored a school, helped to renovate an orphanage, we supported nature management, so you leave your footprint in a way. It was, as one of the participants said, a 'rollercoaster full of emotions'. "
Lecturer and entrepreneur
Gebert has enjoyed being a lecturer at Tio for nine years now. He teaches, among other things, the subjects of Event Management, MICE, Conference Management and Security & Logistics during events. As the founder and manager of his event agency Eventarchitect, Janssen has been highly active in the event sector for over 23 years. His company has locations in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Surinam and Poland. The agency creates and handles event marketing, live communication, professional events and incentives for a wide range of sectors.
Creating experience
The event market is changing more and more. Janssen: "As an event manager you are more and more on the chair of a PR and communication adviser, with the event as a tool. The Event Marketing course is in line with that. If you can create an experience for a customer that suits them, they will be enthusiastic about it.”

“The best thing about the event sector, to me, is that it is always moving. It is a non-stop challenge to set up the next fantastic event.” If your ambition is to break into the event sector yourself, Gebert Janssen has a golden tip: “The most important thing is to be passionate about your work.
