“How can we reduce the return rate of parcels sent out by kleertjes.com?” That was the question that second-year students of Tio’s Commercial Economics and Entrepreneurship bachelor programme sought to answer this week. Today, they presented their ideas at the Media Plaza in Jaarbeurs Utrecht. “I’m very happy with all your ideas”, says SIad Awwad, CEO of kleertjes.com.
The assignment
The students’ assignment: advise kleertjes.com on how to reduce the return rate of their parcels from 35% to 30%. To do so, the students were also given a tour of kleertjes.com, including a corporate presentation given by CEO Siad Awwad. The students were divided into groups and got to pose their questions to the company’s e-commerce managers, who in turn were surprised by the insight demonstrated by this younger generation. “The visit to kleertjes.com was very informative; really nice to hear from the company itself what they expect from the assignment”, tells student Tim.
The students also got to take a look behind the scenes of the Netherlands’ largest parcel delivery service: PostNL. Stefanie Tempelaars, product owner returns at PostNL, gave a guest lecture about this topic and presented the students with a ton of practical information. Armed with this information and a healthy dose of inspiration, the students got to work!
The finale
After a busy week, the students presented their ideas today during the finale at the Media Plaza in Utrecht. “It’s a very interesting assignment”, says student Pascalle. “What we have learned during the lessons is well reflected in the assignment. I hope kleertjes.com will do something with our ideas; they can really make a difference!” The best advice comes from Retourkillers, who advise working with a better size chart, using a 3D mannequin, making use of child models at social media and making consumers aware of their CO2 emissions when they return their products. "Especially the attention for the consumer's awareness came to the fore, they thought this out very well”, according to the jury. Siad Awwad: "The group offers many different ideas in different areas, and the ideas are tangible and feasible."
Internships always available
The prize: an annual subscription to Twinkle magazine from Thuiswinkel.org, a voucher for shoes from kleertjes.com, a cinema voucher, a beautiful bunch of flowers and of course a big cup! Students Eva and Annemijn from Retourkillers: "We did not expect to win, but it is very nice! We tried to really connect our advice to the practice, and that has succeeded! CEO Siad Awwad concludes:" I think Tio can be happy with such good students. At kleertjes.com we always have internships for you! "
