What do you need to know about working in the Netherlands as an international student?

Many international students choose to combine their studies with a part-time job. It is a great way to gain valuable international work experience, develop professional skills, expand your network and earn extra income.

Am I allowed to work in the Netherlands?

If you are an EU/EEA or Swiss citizen, you can work in the Netherlands without restrictions. If you are a non-EU/EEA student, you can also work while studying. Your employer must apply for a work permit (TWV) on your behalf. During your studies, you may either:

❶ work up to 16 hours per week throughout the academic year; or
❷ work full-time during June, July and August.
