The business community and the industry are central within all sections of the study programme. Competence profiles have been set up in cooperation with the industry, which served as a basis for the lesson programmes. Any new developments can quickly be incorporated into the curriculum as a result of Tio’s excellent relationships with the business community.
Knowledge acquisition within the various different subjects takes place within the course. Testing via verbal and written examinations plays a major role in this regard. Plus the curriculum also consists of multi disciplinary projects, practical assignments and research assignments.
Tio predominantly works with class lessons, work lectures, projects and practical assignments within the course. As the course progresses, the intensity of the projects, work experience and practical assignments increases. The student will be getting to grips with real practical situations more frequently and will be challenged to independently assess situations.
The Tio bachelor courses last for just three years. This is made possible by a more intensive programme and by using the summer period for work experience.
The many contact hours and small group sizes means the student is intensively guided. Any cancelled lesson is always rearranged. Project assistance takes place at specific scheduled times.
The intensive approach leads to personal contact between the teacher and his/her students. The small-scale Tio locations, with their small classes, all have a friendly atmosphere where everybody knows each other.
Performance and attendance incentives result in extra motivation. Attendance during the lessons is rewarded with extra retake possibilities. Effort during the lessons can result in bonus points. The competitive element with various group projects stimulates excellence and a team spirit.
Coherence within the various different study sections is realised within an academic year, but also across the course years. Tio applies four learning lines for this purpose: professional competency, international entrepreneurship and management, communication and self development. The coherence between the four learning lines is achieved with subject exceeding projects.
Study career guidance discussions will be conducted with the student at least twice per academic year. The choices regarding the learning project and study results are discussed with the student during these discussions. The student will be given advice where appropriate. Parents are also welcome during these meetings.
Tio provides the parents of its students with information upon request. Plus parents can also request study results via the student web. The log in details and information regarding study progress can be sent to the invoice address. Parents are invited to a parents evening and various different student activities twice a year. Tio would generally not send any information to parents of students who are already of age, without the student’s agreement, in order to safeguard the student’s privacy. The parents’ email address can be filled in on the registration form, irrespective of the age of their son or daughter, in order to be kept up to date on study progress, regulations, study planning, etc.
