The second year students Hotel and Event Management for sure knew how to handle a challenging case for The Next Event. That became clear during the exciting finals at Kinepolis Jaarbeurs Utrecht today. A team from Tio Amsterdam came up with the best idea. Winners Bas and Marc: “Great that we won with our concept based on Augmented Reality!”
1 challenging case
How to organise the customer journey for The Next Event in order to attract more visitors to the event? With that challenging case the students got to work with full of enthusiasm at the start of this week. The students were assisted throughout the week by professionals from the industry who gave them practical tips.
37 convincing pitches
Who would guess the students were given only four days to work out their concepts? With tight pitches, the students from all five campuses competed with each other to convince the jury. Original ideas and convincing presentations from 37 teams were reviewed. The bar was set high!
4 surprised jury members
The jury, consisting of professionals from the field, did not miss the high level of the pitches. Gebert Janssen, Tio lecturer and managing director at Eventarchitect group, just before the winners were announced: “I am very proud of what the students have achieved. The level seems to be higher every year!"
8 overjoyed winners
And then the winners of the Event Week 2019 were announced. Team 9 of Tio Amsterdam (Pieter Bax, Bas Goossens, Marc van der Linden, Zoë des Tombe, Denise Ruigrok, Jennefer de Groot, Jasmijn Vogelaar and Sam Reus) won the cup! They developed a concept that responds to the visitor's experience through technology. Marc and Bas: “Great that we won! The other ideas were also very good; we think we have been able to distinguish ourselves through our use of Augmented Reality. During the week we started to believe in this idea; we had good hope to win!”
And another 2 proud winners
The best pitch was won by team 26 from Rotterdam (“a good concept and great presentation skills”, according to the jury) and the prize for the best video went to team 31 from Rotterdam (“great video, clear and professional, it had everything!”, according to the jury).
